- swelling between the tip of mastoid and angle of jaw
- & in parapharyngeal space
clinical features
- sudden onset
- pain
- fever
swelling in the neck
- torticollis
rx
a) cortical mastoidectomy
b) drainage through separate incision
c) intravenous antibiotics
4.lucs abscess / meatal abscess
5. citelli's abscess
- behind mastoid more towards the occipital bone
6 parapharyngeal / retropharyngeal abscess
- result from infection of peritubal cells due to acute mastoiditis
