Elemental Succession: A Potentially Decent Niche Set

Elemental Succession: A Potentially Decent Niche Set Elemental Succession was changed in PTS patch 5.1.3 to be considerably stronger. It now provides 550 spell damage on a (supposed to be) 4 second cooldown. On classes where elemental damage (Fire, Shock, and Frost) are high, such as on a magicka Dragonknight, this set may end up being a decent option to use.

In this video, we compare it to some other common front bar sets. Note that we are not comparing it to other body sets; that may be for a different video altogether. Based on the mathematics, it should be highly competitive against our three other sets: Mother's Sorrow, Spell Strategist, and Burning Spellweave. A lot of it will depend on uptimes.

Based on our parses, it seems that Elemental Succession has a slight edge over our three other sets. However, do keep in mind that this was just a single parse for each set, so variation in uptimes and crits may end up swinging one of our other sets ahead of Elemental Succession. In addition, it is arguably not as ideal to wear at least Mother's Sorrow as a front bar set, so our comparison is not a truly "end-all-be-all" conclusion.

What we can conclude is that, at least on a magicka Dragonknight and magicka Necromancer, it may be worth taking a second look at Elemental Succession.
