The central government has revised the minimum wage, now its Rs. 178 per worker per day in India. The implication is simple a worker will get a monthly wage of mere Rs 4,628/-. At the same time, Modi regime has been giving huge tax incentives to corporates. Such a low wage ignores the report of Anoop Satpathy-led Expert Committee constituted by the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment “Determining the Methodology for Fixation of the National Minimum Wage”. The committee proposed to raise the wages of workers to Rs 375 - Rs 447 per day. It is in this context BJP led NDA government, breaking it's own promises, has proposed an anti-worker pittance of INR 178 per worker per day as wage.
