Understanding Appendix A Rule 4

Understanding Appendix A Rule 4 Ethics are defined as a set of moral principles or values. Etiquette is defined as the conduct or procedure required or prescribed by authority to be observed in official life. So far, the two seem in sync – ethical behavior is that required for the practice of law.

Etiquette is alternately defined as the customary code of polite behavior among members of a particular profession. Polite? Attorneys? Can the concepts peacefully co-exist?

Carol G. Morokoff, a thirty-two-year litigator, uses her experience inside and outside the courtrooms and offices to describe ethical and etiquette pitfalls that the unwary will encounter, how to identify them in advance, and how to negotiate one’s way around them.
