On May 22, 2019, Mr Beast teased the idea of what he should do for 20 million subscribers. In the past, he gave his millionth subscriber that many millions of something, but this time Reddit had a different idea, 20 million Trees. Though at first, it was a meme, it quickly caught on and became something serious the next day. MrBeast tweeting: ”Reddit really wants me to plant 20 million trees” And with MrBeast, nothing is impossible. The Thing is, there’s only so many trees one man or one channel can plant.
So, Beast, with the help of Mark Rober launched #TeamTrees, a team of creators who would band together to plant the before mentioned 20 million trees. And being part of that team I had to think of an interesting way I could tie my YouTube business channel into this event - And then it hit me. After MrBeast and Mark Rober released their videos, hundreds of other creators dropped videos as well, and that made me wonder, how does the YouTube algorithm know what a video is, and how to categorize all the #TeamTrees videos together?
