This recent training event took place in the East China Sea.

Manufactured by Raytheon, the Phalanx weapon system—which is designed to defeat anti-ship missiles and close-in threats that have penetrated other lines of defense—is a precision, computer-controlled, rapid-fire, radar-guided, 20mm M61 Vulcan autocannon.

Official U.S. Navy release: Sailors aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Wayne E. Meyer (DDG 108) conduct a live-fire shoot of a close-in weapon system (CIWS). Wayne E. Meyer is underway conducting operations in the Indo-Pacific region while assigned to Destroyer Squadron (DESRON 15), the Navy's largest forward-deployed DESRON and the U.S. 7th Fleet's principal surface force.
