I replaced the lifters with solids and cleaned the points and re-set them. cleaned and re-gaped the plugs to .025. I also cleaned the carb with carb cleaner and wiped the soot off everything. I then did a cold compression test wet and got about 80 F, 100 R. A leakdown shows 65% F and about 30% R. intake and exhaust were quiet so i'm guessing rings.
I took it out, started it up and let it warm up. sounds really good. however still missing under load. i just rode it round the block and it was missing a lot still. I bought a piston/ cylinder/ring set. after shopping around I found it was just as much to send out my stuff and buy pistons and rings as it was to just buy them in a set at stock size. my cylinders are already .050 over. so now going to pull the top end
