Bathing My 5 Year Old Husky For The First Time! He Hated It! So yes I've never bathed him with soap before as husky coats are self cleaning, the natural oils keep their coat clean and smelling sweet. Whenever he gets muddy all he needs is the mud hosed off, as the natural oils stop the mud from sticking. What I've found since this bath is, his skin is a lot less protected as his coat actually parted down his spine because he didn't have the oils holding his hair out like a natural gel. He took a long time to dry after going out in the rain as their was no oil stopping water from getting down to his skin. And I personally prefer the natural sweet scent from his coat than the artificial berry scent from the shampoo.
