Colored Pastel on Gouache For Glowing Light Effects

I demonstrate two urban sketches in watercolor and gouache, and then add a bright light effect with pastel once the paint is fully dry. This technique is a simple way to achieve the feeling of objects against a bright sky. Also I answer a few of your questions and discuss whether it ‘breaks the rules’ to combine gouache, watercolor, pastels, and other mixed media, and how to use photography for inspiration for urban sketching.
