Fathima Latheef committed suicide on 9th November by hanging from a ceiling fan in her hostel room... allegedly due to religious bias against her. There was no suicide note found in Fathima’s room. As per reports, a note in her mobile phone mentioned names of some faculty members as being the cause of her death. Two students from IIT Madras are now sitting on an indefinite strike till their demands are not met. They are demanding for an external expert survey into the issues faced by students and a time-bound investigation into the allegations raised by Fathima’s parents.
