TIS Marks: Mandatory VS Voluntary Certification Mark

TIS Marks: Mandatory VS Voluntary Certification Mark With mission to carry out national standardization in order to promote, support and develop quality of domestic products, preserve the environment, and protect consumers in terms of fairness, safety of life and property, and supervise conformity assessment bodies, TISI, the national standards organization for Thailand was established under the Ministry of Industry.
Now before you export your product to Thailand, it must be checked and certified for quality. The certification will be provided by TISI only along with the permit to display the certification mark.
Products that display the TIS marks imply that the products have been inspected and certified by TISI to have quality and required standards, they are safe to consume and effective to use.

Now TISI provides two types of certification marks:
First is voluntary certification mark. Only manufacturers based in Thailand can apply for this mark. The standards are set by TISI and those manufacturers who can meet those are eligible for this mark. Having this certification mark assures buyers that the products have creditability, quality, safety, and appropriate price.

Second one is mandatory certification mark. This is a mandatory mark for all products. Manufacturers, importers, and sellers must produce, import and sell only those products that meet the set standards. The mandatory certification mark needs to be displayed for every single unit of products to imply that product is a compliance outcome with the requirements of the mandatory standard.
