Getting cast as The Joker has become a huge moment in an actor’s career. It can either make or break someone. In the case of Heath Ledger, Jack Nicholson, and Joaquin Phoenix, it earned them a ton of praise and shot them into icon status. For Jared Leto, on the other hand, the road was a little more rocky. From the first images of his character that were released, it was clear that Leto’s Joker was going to seriously divide fans. The same can be said for Suicide Squad itself! When the trailer dropped, it seemed like this was going to be the most exciting comic book adaptation we had seen in a long time. But, with all of that hype raising expectations everywhere, when fans finally got to see it, things turned out a little… differently. Some love the movie, but others were left confused and concerned!
The thing is, the trailer had made it seem as though The Joker was going to be a huge part of the final product! But when the movie came out, he was only in under eight minutes of it!
The director, David Ayer, recently came out on Instagram to talk about just how much the movie changed from when he shot it to when it opened in theatres, and it seems like not a whole lot of it was within his control! He also talks about a couple of deleted scenes that might have just changed everything, if they had been allowed to stay in the movie. Check out the video below for all the details!
