21|7 accomplice appeals conviction

21|7 accomplice appeals conviction Ismail Abdurahman appeals his convictions for assisting an offender and terrorism offences. He was jailed for 10 years - later reduced to eight years on appeal - in 2008 for assisting failed 21/7 London bomber Hussain Osman by offering him a safe house in the days following the botched attack.

The appeal centred on police interviews, where he was treated only as a witness when officers knew he was a suspect in the case.

John King opened the case before Dame Victoria Sharp, Mr Justice Garnham and Mr Justice Chamberlain at the Royal Courts of Justice in central London. Louis Mably QC responded on behalf of the Crown.

The case had been referred to the Court of Appeal by the Criminal Cases Review Commission as a potentially unsafe conviction following a decision by the European Court of Human Rights that found Abdurahman's trial had been "irretrievably prejudiced".
