Fundamental scratching is something "Turntablists" generally don't think about. Being the fastest and the most technical seems to take precedence in today's era. Don't get me wrong, I personally think technical ability is important but other factors play a roll in how successful you are as a scratch DJ too. For one, feeling the music and being emotionally attached to the music you're scratching to gives your cuts personality. But more important is the ability to string together the seven basic scratches ("Baby", "Forward Release", "Forward Stab", "Forward Drag", "Reverse Drag", "Transformer" and the "Chirp") in a way that achieves fluency in your record and fader hand movements. #throwbackthursday #hitmanhowietee #chirpscratch
