To be clear: even if that woman were to kick my ass and I mistakenly said to the cops that it was a man, it would show only that I've fallen prey to relying upon a rule of thumb whose application was incorrect in the present case. My ability to make mistakes doesn't alter the science; it merely represents the fact that I'm capable of being confused about reality. A good disguise can also fool me; it doesn't change a person's underlying identity or biology. Magic tricks can also fool me; sorcery doesn't thereby exist because of my failure to figure out how I'm being deceived.
