How big is your baby during 28 weeks of pregnancy?
Baby is about the size of an eggplant measuring 37.6cm in length and weighing about 1005gm.
Baby development during 28 weeks of pregnancy:
All of the major body systems are in place and functioning. Apart from this there are more developments which can be observed during 28 weeks of pregnancy.
1. Baby gains skills such as sucking, moving her limbs, walking, breathing, coughing etc.
2. The lungs are stronger and more developed than before to support her life outside the womb.
3. Greasy vernix and lanugo start to disappear improving the appearance of the skin.
4. The folds and grooves of the brain continue to develop and become more prominent.
5. Heart rate slows down to about 140 beats per minute which is double the mothers heart rate.
6. The baby can be born bald, with invisible hair or with thick hair.
7. Muscles develop, becomes toned and their strength increases. This gives a plump look to the foetus.
8. The placenta grows and the blood flow in it increases to support the baby’s quicker growth in the final trimester
9. Eyes and eyelashes continue developing and can produce tears.
Body changes during 28 weeks of pregnancy:

Pregnant women need more iron, folic acid, calcium, zinc, iodine, and vitamin D. Malnutrition increases the risk of having a low birth weight baby or going into preterm labor.
