There are documented case of allergy to silica and a certain alloy present in stainless steel but they are very few and far between. There are also documented cases of very tiny fraction of people being allergic to the material to cement the crown to the tooth. Typically they will show red rashes or burning in the oral cavity. Usually in and around the crown area but it is a little difficult and challenging to diagnose because it may not appear immediately. If it comes in a few weeks later. Extremely difficult to pin point of that is the cause of allergy but there definitely is documented but many at times these materials are very inert and they do not cause any allergic reaction.
