How to build a fireplace mantel

Wife asked for a Mantel… So with an excuse to build, I built a DIY Mantel that rests on cabinets for our entertainment and media hardware. This Mantle sits above an electric Fireplace.

I hope to finish the project this summer when the weather gets good.
