New Delhi :
Defence Expert PK Sehgal hailed the clearance by Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) for buying Naval helicopter worth 2.6 billion USD. He said, “This has been a requirement of Indian Navy for a very long time. Our anti-submarine fleet is based on seeking helicopters whose spare parts are no longer available. They are old and they are virtually exhausted. Under the circumstances, it has been 10 years that India has been pressurizing and looking for suitable machine to replace this. We have been wanting this 'Romeo' helicopter from Americans for last 8-10 years but they have been denying this. Its Induction to the Indian Navy would boost the strength of the Indian Navy in a very major way.” CCS on February 19, gave clearance for purchasing 24 multi-role helicopters (MRH), MH60 'Romeo' from US.
