loc: ARCH shelter for the house-less and marginalized populations.
Incident:
Right now there are between 10,000-20,000 Citizens experiencing homelessness in Austin. There is only shelter space for a few of us.
The City has a mostly white population overall. With 6% of the population reportedly of black skin color. And due to hyper-policing, racial profiling, systemic racism, displacement, marginalization, targeting and other more heinous gentrification there's an unequal 40% of those without housing are black-skinned. Yet the shelter is also racist and only has 20% black-skinned people. Do you see the systemic racism of rich, white Austin yet?
Ordinary Peoples' Sleeping is a Human Right and cannot be a crime.
But the City leaders, despite all their promises to house people before ticketing them, arresting them, or threatening them is a lie.
As you can see the mostly white extremely racist Austin Police officers make a regular practice of targeting, threatening, harassing, yelling, and arresting people for their protected Rights to gather, to wait, to sleep, lie down and rest. case in point APD calls black people the n-word even in the Leadership
The shelter was still accepting people to come lie on the floor or on a cot in the lobby. There is a lottery also to get in. You have to stand in line to be in the lottery. And many are turned away every night with NO PLACE ELSE TO GO. So people go to nearby 6th street, they go to alleys, they try to hide from the racist Austin Police government agents.
Instead of spending the $250,000,000 on housing for the house-less from Nov 2018 in the general election. Instead of giving housing, police harass folks all day and night, beating people for sleeping, kicking people for sleeping, waking and ticketing and arresting. Showing that the City has no solutions, no plans, just oppression of marginalized populations, many of whom are of color. Criminal.
There are many witness accounts to this harassment. There are many people victimized by APD for simply trying to be a human being in a hyper-gentrified City. Like a fake Monopoly board.
Enough is enough. We do not have to take this treatment any more. It's time to resist government oppression. For the Rights of everyone in Austin! And our visitors too.

Who am I? A simple man, a simple dream. To live Free and be safe. Sounds easy huh? It's not.
Why? For decades, or longer many of the Citizens have allowed the officials to run amuck and corrupt the laws, courts and processes until the Liberty Bell cannot be heard.
What can be done you might say?
My name is Julian, and I live in Austin. For a hobby, after work, I like to film and document interactions with employees and the People who employ them, as a Legal Observer, and as Free-Press Journalist.
I staunchly support and exercise our 1st Amendment Protections under Federal and State law (1-10 are in the Bill of Rights).
As well as the 4th, 5th and 14th too.
A peaceful light worker, vegetarian and unarmed. All I have is a camera. But I'm not ashamed to use my lens at times when the govt. rather keep dark and hidden from Public view. Secrecy of Government is not the Law. The Law is Govt. Transparency at all times. So why hide?
So basically I do my best to try and keep the local police and leadership honest. Like a good patriotic neighbor should. Paying it forward for all. Can I get an amen brothers and sisters in arms?!
You can help me do more, be more equipped for Justice and Freedom. Come on let's make Peace and give peace a chance!
