Further three cases of coronavirus confirmed in NSW

Further three cases of coronavirus confirmed in NSW A further three cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in New South Wales as the state's first instances of human-to-human transmission of the disease have been recorded.

This comes as the federal government advised all health and aged care workers returning from 'hot spot' locations to self-isolate for 14 days.

One woman is believed to have contracted the novel coronavirus from her brother who recently travelled to Iran, while a 53-year-old health worker is thought to have contracted it while treating a patient.

NSW health minister Brad Hazzard conceded the situation is “concerning” for health authorities.

The number of people who have contracted the disease has exceeded 90,000 worldwide, with 3,000 deaths.

Over 90 per cent of the fatalities have been recorded in China, as the government struggles to contain the virus.

The World Health Organisation said on Sunday that the death rate coronavirus appears to be between two and five per cent.
