NRIs can now acquire up to 100% stake in Air India

Non-resident Indian (NRI) can now acquire up to 100 per cent equity in Air India. While addressing the press conference after cabinet meeting, Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Prakash Javadekar informed, "Regarding the strategic sale of Air India, now Non-resident Indian (NRI) can acquire 100% of stake in the airlines. Earlier it was 49%."
