Austin-based Paralympic swimmer Lizzi Smith quit her life's passion and took off on the road for several months after she missed medaling in the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games by one-hundredth of a second. Now, after a road trip chasing "fearlessness", Smith is working to redefine her meaning of success just in time for her reappearance on swimming's world stage at the Parapan American Games in Lima and the Para Swimming World Championships. She has since racked up two gold medals in Lima, two bronze and two silver medals in London, as well as broken the American record in the 100 meter backstroke in London.
