Adeel Shazad, who owns Kebabish Peri Peri across the road, has described how two of the young men sought refuge in the shop after being seriously injured.

Staff alerted the emergency services and gave the teenagers first aid, using paper towels to try to stem the bleeding, until medics arrived.

Adeel said: 'The staff here looked after the lads, they came running in, bloodied up.

'We got lots of paper towels, we had to phone an ambulance, the police turned up.

'One of my staff, Azhar, was with them until the ambulance arrived, and he went out to the ambulance with them.

'I've served the lads in here before, they're only young, I'm in shock'.

Two other young men are thought to have run into the sports centre, where they were helped by staff.

Greater Manchester Police say the injuries are serious but are not currently believed to be life-threatening.
