I Had No Idea That She Would Be Famous One Day [StoryTime]

Another story about a famous person I once knew.

In Junior High I had no idea that she would be famous. She kept that little secret.

Since I was in the 9th grade and she was in the 7th grade. I would say that she
was my daughter and when play with words like that.

Now let me tell you how we first met. See I had this friend right that would date
me to do things. Silly me would take the bait and do it. You know how silly
Junior High schoolers are.

Anyway we were at recess just hanging out on the yard. When this young girl
came on the scene, wearing a neon color pink sweatshirt (the sweatshirt was thick)
with a bright, I mean bright green lace tank top over it.

Even though we went to school near Hollywood we found the attire strange.
So my friend dared me to go up to here and asked why does she have that on.

So my dumb butt went up to her and asked. Why do you have that on. You
probably won't believe what her response was. See be careful talking to a secure young lady.

Her response to be was "because I like it." So what could I say to that. I was like
oh okay. I don't remember what else we talked about but we became cool after that.

The following year I was in my first year of High School. Yeah when I was growing up in
L.A. we started high school in the 10th grade. However our 9th grade GPA counts
to our overall High School curriculum.

Well one day I was chit chatting on the phone with my friend. We were watching
Solid Gold. Solid Gold was similar to Soul Train but catered to a more Caucasian
audience. All of sudden friend says that's Shanice. I'm like Shanice who. Then
she reminded who she was. I was like oh my little daughter.

Well who knew she was a singer, and doing it big enough to be on Solid Gold.

I was like okay. Now some of you may not know who she is but let me give you a
couple of songs that you do know by her. Her most famous some is "I like your
smile".

And for you younger folks she sang the theme song to the show One On One
starring her real life husband Flex (Washington).
