Important: The FTC will now be eligible to fine MONETIZED Youtube creators up to around $42,000 for mislabeling the audience of a video
All YouTube creators will be fined up to around $42,350 per mislabeled video, not a guaranteed $42,350. The amount a YouTube creator will be fined will be based on the revenue that their mislabeled video generated through ads. So HUGE YouTube creators like PewDiePie and companies that get millions of views per video will be the main targets of this fine.
This only affects MONETIZED YouTube creators. If you aren't a youtube partner (something you have to specifically apply for after reaching 1000 subscribers and 4000 hours of watch time in a year), then this won't affect you.
If you aren't sure whether your video is made for kids or not, youtube suggests to label it as NOT made for kids, which will suggest that your video is aimed at more of a general audience.
