Mukul Mujumdar, a resident of Thane has been a regular train commuter. Last year, she joined a private company in Andheri. To reach the office, she used to travel from Thane to Ghatkopar and board a metro there. However, lately she found it increasingly difficult to even enter the train compartment as the train would already come in crowded. The travelling was affecting her physical and mental health. The frequent delays during the rainy season was also a problem. This is why she quit her job in September.
She is not the only woman who has quit her job because of trains. Many other women have quit their jobs. Mumbai, which is considered the economic capital of India and is known for being a cosmopolitan city with women working and travelling till late. This is a big shame that because of trains women have to leave their jobs.
